Single Session Of Psychotherapy with Psilocybin Improves Major Depression

This is a lovely study in a major journal that adds to the evidence for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. It is sham-controlled, and shows sustained relief from depressive symptoms after a single session of psilocybin assisted psychotherapy for those with major depression compared to the sham. Most psilocybin studies have been in animals or in treatment-resistant depression or not well-controlled, etc. This is a hopeful addition to our knowledgebase supporting it’s use as a potential first line treatment.
